To honor the month of basketball and friendly competition, we’re sharing our favorite sports-related binges.
Grace: I believe in Ted Lasso! I’ve never followed soccer, but now I’m a die-hard fan of a fictional football team, walking around singing “We’re Richmond till we die!” and “Jamie Tartt do do do do do do.” I love the light-hearted, feel-good spirit of this show. I can’t get enough!
Will: The new “Full Swing” and “Break Point” docuseries, following the world’s top golfers and tennis stars, have monopolized my time spent on Netflix. Beyond documenting their careers, I always enjoy learning about athletes’ background and motivation. I haven’t yet tried the F1 racing series made by the same producers.
Karen: I love a good football tailgate party — for the Bengals, my beloved Kent State Golden Flashes every year at homecoming, even an occasional high school game. But most of my tailgating these days happens before UC Bearcats game. I can’t think of a sports occasion that involves more binging than tailgating – too much food, too many beers, too much hootin’ and hollerin’. It’s the perfect pregame routine.
Tammy: The Olympics. I’ll watch anything and everything Olympics themed every two years. It doesn’t matter which sport – whether it’s swimming (my favorite) or that weird competition where you ski and then shoot at things. I’m there for all of it.
Stacy: Friday Night Lights. I grew up in a small town where everyone turned out for Friday night football. I love the characters, the story lines, how it’s filmed. I’m back home cheering at every touchdown, except from my couch. Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose!
