There are few things more frustrating than a problem arising when you need to get something out on social media. You’ve worked hard on writing, editing and gaining approvals for your content and are ready to share it with your audience. Most of the time, this goes off without a hitch, but sometimes Facebook doesn’t cooperate (and doesn’t that always seem to happen at the very worst times?)

One anxiety-inducing issue that seems to happen often is Facebook pulling through the wrong image to accompany the blog post or web page you’re trying to share. Sure, you could remove the automatic preview and add your own image, but that removes the link to your content from the image itself. So, what is a social media manager to do?

Luckily, this one is easy. Facebook has a Sharing Debugger tool that allows you to fix this issue in two clicks. Simply enter the URL you are planning to share and click the “Debug” button. You’ll see all the information that Facebook has about that link. If it’s pulling through the wrong image or other incorrect information, click the “Scrape Again” button, and you should see the correct image when the page refreshes. Now you’re ready to post!
