The E.W. Scripps Company and Vehr Communications have partnered to give one lucky intern a truly unique summer experience with the Cincinnati Strategic Communications Leadership Program. Students from across the nation vied for the opportunity to engage in a dual internship with the two organizations to dive into the world of agency and corporate communications. Today, we introduce you to the newest member of our team: Haley Fite.
Get to know Haley below in her own words:
Where do you go to college and what is your major?
I am headed into my fourth and final year at the University of Cincinnati where I study communications and creative writing.
What are some of your favorite activities outside of work?
Although I am not Food Network-ready quite yet, I do love to cook and bake. I make a mean bowl of pasta and an even better batch of peanut butter cookies. I have always loved to read and wish I could fly through books the way I did when I was younger. And like most people, I also enjoy binge-watching the latest Netflix Original or an amateur creation on YouTube.
What’s your favorite social media channel?
I have a terrible habit of putting all my focus into one social media app or platform at a time. Right now most of that focus is on Snapchat.
What’s one app you can’t live without?
I obsess over creating the perfect playlist for every mood, event or lazy Sunday afternoon, so Spotify is one of my best friends.
What media outlets do you follow on a regular basis? Why those outlets?
I strive to achieve the perfect balance in my media consumption by using different outlets to further different goals. I typically turn to The Atlantic or Vice for a good long-form, in-depth, investigative piece. The New York Times and the Washington Post do a great job of keeping me updated on politics and world events, while Buzzfeed provides my pop culture fix. Inc. Magazine and Business Insider keep me well updated on business and industry news, and I turn to Wired for tech updates.
What are you most excited to experience in your time at Vehr/Scripps?
I am so excited for the opportunity to dive into two very different environments and cultures experiencing the corporate side of the industry at Scripps and the agency side of things here at Vehr.
